The AI you already use reads images, PDFs, and spreadsheets
Most people still only ask ChatGPT for text — but current models analyze photos, contracts, and entire tables. Send the file instead of typing.

If you use AI only to ask for texts, you're using a fraction of what it can do. Current models are multimodal: besides reading and writing, they see. A photo, a 40-page PDF, or a messy spreadsheet can be sent directly into the conversation — and the AI analyzes the actual content, not just the file name.
In practice, this changes everything. That confusing electricity bill? Take a photo and ask "why was it more expensive this month?". The rental contract full of legalese? Send the PDF and ask "explain the 3 most important clauses to me as if I were 15 years old". The sales spreadsheet you inherited from another employee? Attach it and ask "what looks off in these numbers?".
The most common mistake is manually typing what already exists in a file. Besides wasting time, you lose precision: the AI reading the original document sees tables, stamps, signatures, and visual details that a typed summary would never capture.
Three important precautions. First: sensitive data (client documents, passwords, third-party medical information) should only go to tools approved by your company. Second: AI can misread numbers — in financial decisions, check the value in the original document. Third: very long files may exceed the conversation limit; ask for the analysis in parts.
